Sadly, Gerhard Stoehr passed away on February 9 in Riedlingen, Germany. He was 79 years old. Mr Stoehr was a noted author of several books in German on the history of meteorological instruments. He contributed his instrument catalog collection to the development of this website, for which I will always be grateful. May he rest in peace.

I've added a new section to the website on the home page, called Other Instrument Collections. I will be adding photos and descriptions of interesting instruments of other collectors. Today I posted a webpage on French Lion et Guichard barometers from the 1870s, in the collection of Josef Lang of Germany. Also his barometers made by Dubois et Casse of France, from the 1860s.

Today I posted photos and description of a Carl Zeiss konimeter, a device for measuring the dust content of a sample of air. A Zeiss manual is included for download. It is in the collection of a meteorological instrument collector in Catalonia. It may be found with the visibility instruments on the website.

Today I scanned and posted the US Navy Hydrographic Office publication "A Functional Glossary of Ice Terminology" from 1952. It's 102 pages long and includes 110 photos of ice formations at sea and on land. With all those photos the file is over 200MB. It may be found with the reference document downloads.
