This is a W M Welch model 1233 classroom barometer.  Though sold by Welch, the front dial indicates that it was actually made by Taylor Instruments of Rochester, NY.  It's not shown in any of my Taylor catalogs, however.  It's huge, dial is 12 inches in diameter, while the walnut case is 15 inches tall.  It's listed in the 1940 through 1968 Welch catalogs available on this website.  The label on the back has a postal zone number, which dates it to 1943-1963.  It's made for hanging on a wall.  It needs to be upright to work properly, which makes calibration annoying because the calibration screw is on the bottom of the case.  It has a large aneroid cell, as shown in the inside view.  It seems to work ok.
