This is an Irving P Krick Weather Guide, copyrighted in 1949. It is of durable metal construction, and is 10.5 inches long. The user turns the knobs at the bottom of the device until the red arrowhead lines up with the wind direction for the particular season, May-October in the photo above. A compass is provided to aid in assessing wind direction. The weather forecast may then be read in the window near the top of the device. Seven different devices were sold for seven different regions of the US. This model is for the North Central States. If the knobs are turned so the red arrow lines up with the black dot, the region the device is designed for may be read in the window.

​Dr Krick (1906-1996) was a meteorologist and professor at the California Institute of Technology. He pioneered providing commercial meteorological consulting and had a cloud seeding business for rainfall enhancement.
