This barometer was obtained from Lithuania, reportedly from a former Soviet air force base. The logo at the top of the dial says 'GMS" in Cyrillic letters. The GM undoubtedly stands for Gidromet, which is Russian for hydrometeorology, but I don't know what the S stands for. It was made in 1952 in the USSR, probably by the Gidrometpribor Scientific Production Association, which was the state-owned producer of meteorological instruments. Since the diaI says Moscow I suspect it was produced at their Moscow plant.

It has a 4.75 inch dial face and the housing is metal and carbolite, a material similar to Bakelite. The scale is in centimeters Hg. It works, but not a great performer. If anyone has information on GMS or this instrument, please email me.
