Kipp & Zonen CM5 Pyranometer
This Kipp & Zonen CM5 Pyranometer is lacking its sun shield but seems to work well. It was made in the Netherlands and uses an electroplated polyamide foil thermopile. It is a 'first class' pyranometer per the 1983 WMO guidelines and was first produced in 1989. It has been superseded by later Kipp & Zonen CMP pyranometers.
It sits in my window next to the Eppley Model 50 pyrheliometer and seems to put out about 12% higher microvolts under similar lighting conditions. Under typical diffuse light conditions from my northern exposure, it puts out about 230 microvolts. I measure the output voltage with a Dynamics Instrumentation Model 1362 DC microvoltmeter, which has a sensitivity of 1 millivolt full scale on its lowest range.
