Max Kohl
Max Kohl Factory from 1898
Mechanic Max Kohl founded a mechanical workshop in 1876 in Chemnitz, Germany. They provided scientific instruments for laboratories and universities. Max moved to the large factory shown here in 1898 and remained there until his death in 1908. Following his death the company incorporated as Max Kohl AG. The facilities were destroyed in World War II. After the war the company became state owned in East Germany as Volksseigener Betrieb, VEB, later as VEB Polytechnik.
