George Adams Sr (1709-1773) was an English instrument maker who founded his company on Fleet Street in London in 1734.  His line of instruments included globes, orreries, microscopes, telescopes, sectors, quadrants, etc.  After his death, his son George Adams Jr. (1750-1795), who had been his apprentice, took over the company and extended the product line to meteorological instruments. Both George Sr and George Jr were instrument makers to King George III.

After George Jr died, his wife Hannah ran the business for about a year. In 1796, the remaining instruments were sold at auction.

George Jr's brother Dudley Adams (1762-1830), who had worked with him, set up his own instrument firm at Charing Cross in London.  It prospered during the Napoleonic Wars but went bankrupt after the wars ended, in 1817.
