This Fortin mercury barometer is inscribed "J Green & H J Green, NY".  James Green and his nephew Henry J Green were partners from 1879 to 1885, which dates the barometer to this period.  Also the company moved to Brooklyn, then a separate city, in 1890.

It's not working, there's no mercury in it, and the thermometer tube is missing.  The brass barometric scale ranges from 25.5 to 32.7 in Hg, with a vernier scale to read to 1/100 inch.  The brass thermometer scale ranges from -5 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit.
