Hohmann & Maurer was founded in 1885 and used the logo 'H&M'.  They were bought by Taylor Brothers in 1896.  In addition to the H&M logo, this thermometer is also labeled Taylor Instrument Companies, a label that was used after 1907.  However, Taylor started using the Tycos logo in 1908 so I suspect that this instrument dates from shortly after 1907.  The thermometer tube measures 9.5 inches and ranges from -10 F to 120 F.  The spirit-filled thermometer tube is a precision-made replacement produced by Russell Scientific Instruments in the UK.
