Unknown US Army Handheld Anemometer
This is an unknown-maker handheld anemometer that was part of a US Army Signal Corps AN/PMQ-1 Manual Meterological Station. The meteorological station was made by Wallace & Tiernan in 1951. The wind enters through a screen on the side of the device not shown. A knob on the side selects one of two scales, 0-8 knots or 0-40 knots. It has a vane on top to indicate if the anemometer is correctly oriented into the wind. The bulb on the bottom is a fluid-filled compass. It has a threaded hole on the bottom for a standard tripod. It seems to still work, though the compass is low on fluid.
