Russian Barometer from 1941
This is an aneroid barometer made in the former Soviet Union in 1941. The barometer is in good working condition, though the mercury thermometer is next to impossible to read. It came with a case with the following label inside:
A website visitor who speaks Russian indicates that the label says ‘Red Labor Leningrad’. Leningrad was a center for precision engineering beginning in the days of the czar.
The pressure scale ranges from 60 to 79 cmHg, while the thermometer ranges from -15 to 48 C. The case is made of carbolite, a material similar to Bakelite. The diameter of the face is about 4.75 inches and it weighs 1.6 pounds.
